Alex Rigas
In my fourth and penultimate year of Mechanical Engineering at Carleton University in Ottawa, working on problems both technical and organizational. For the 2026–2027 academic year I serve as Vice-President Finance of the Carleton AI Society and as Events Executive of the Military and Defence Society — one role in charge of a budget and its records, the other of a programming calendar and the partnerships behind it.
My background includes academic engineering work, facilities coordination at St. George’s Country Club, residential construction, and four years running my own seasonal service business. I have a strong foundation in CAD, Python, and VBA, and I am bilingual in English and French (Bilingual Honours, French Immersion). Available from May 2027 in Toronto or Ottawa.
Selected work

- Automated Sorting Machine — team lead on a vacuum-driven ping-pong ball transfer system built under strict size, power, and budget constraints for MAAE 2001 at Carleton.
- Werly: a CRM platform built with a partner while learning software development and the business side around it. Shut down when the commercial case for the product failed.
